Revitalization of the noise wall, Mariánské Lázně

Even purpose-built structures can be unique and beautiful. An example is the approach to Mariánské Lázně, where the noise wall is newly decorated with circular concrete reliefs by Josef Zlamal. These have a diameter of 240 centimetres and are accented with white marble stones. The main motif of the work is Czech and foreign spa towns that have become part of UNESCO - Great Spa Towns of Europe. Each motif is made up of hundreds of tiny marble stones that have been hand-inserted into a mould. Thanks to this, they stand out from the concrete after casting and thus strengthen the plasticity of the drawing. The second phase of the project is currently complete. It is the wish of the local residents that the noise wall not only fulfils its function but also appeals to them as a work of art.
